What logistics and equipment should you consider when hiring a DJ?

I provide professional sound and wireless microphones for speeches and announcements, plus lighting options to match your vibe. We’ll confirm setup location, power needs, venue rules, and your timeline in advance so everything runs smoothly. I also pride myself on efficient setup and breakdown so we’re never in the way.

Yes. We’ll build your music direction together — from clean edits to explicit requests, cultural favorites, and “must plays / do-not-plays.” You’ll also have a planning process that makes it easy to share what you love (and what you don’t).

We provide wireless, battery-powered ceremony audio and microphones — so we can set up almost anywhere, even without nearby power.

How much does it cost and how does payment work?

Accepted Answer

Wedding DJ packages start at $2,500 For ceremony Cocktail & Reception and up to $5,000+ depending on coverage, lighting, and add-ons. A 30% retainer reserves your date, and the remaining balance is due before the event. You’ll receive a clear proposal and invoice with everything outlined. Payments scheduling and financing options available.

Do you take requests?

Absolutely — if the couple wants them. We can allow requests, limit them, or keep it “no requests.” Either way, I’ll read the room and keep the vibe where it should be.

Are you insured?

Accepted Answer

Yes — DJ Jonny Risk Productions is fully insured with $1,000,000 liability coverage. If your venue needs a Certificate of Insurance (COI), just let me know and I can provide it.

How far in advance should we book our DJ?

Accepted Answer

Most events book 3–12 months out. If your date is a popular Saturday (spring–fall), booking 6–12 months ahead gives you the best chance at your first-choice DJ and a smoother planning process.
Once you’re booked, we’ll handle planning in phases:
 • 6–8 months out: Discovery meeting + vision / priorities
 • 2–4 months out: Venue details + timeline draft
 • 1 month out: Final review + music + announcements
 • Week of: Confirm logistics + vendor coordination
 • Event day: Showtime
Last-minute? If your event is within 30–60 days, reach out anyway—if I’m available, we can still lock it in fast.
